CLABSI’s Who’s accountable?

Posted on by Mary Smith

I was just reviewing the numbers related to CLABSI rates and we still have a lot of work to do!  Studies still show that the majority of central lines become infected after day 5 of insertion.  Vascular Access Programs and education of all health care providers needs to be a priority.  Who is educating our educators?, our nurse leaders,? our nurses who care for these lines?  If we are inserting the lines then we are responsible for them.  There are many resources we can pull from.   Educate the Entire Team let the industry leaders help us educate. They will provide the most current data and best practice guidelines.  Use the tools out there!
